# Cangjie · 仓颉

> An interactive collection of 82 Chinese characters: meanings, modern Mandarin pinyin, teaching illustrations, selected historical forms, and traditional/simplified comparisons.

This is an experimental discovery index following the llms.txt proposal. It is a navigation aid, not a search-engine requirement or a guarantee of agent support. The canonical HTML pages work without live AI; language and appearance controls enhance the experience in the browser.

- Pinyin represents modern Mandarin pronunciation, not reconstructed ancient pronunciation.
- A learning view, not a continuous historical timeline. Selected historical examples, variants, and evidence gaps remain distinct. A gap means this collection has not included a suitable identified, reusable specimen; it is not proof that a form never existed.
- Origin traces incomplete is a provisional editorial selection of characters with unclear links in early forms, original meaning, or development. It does not necessarily mean scholarly disagreement. An absent label does not establish certainty, and missing images in this collection are a separate issue.
- Teaching illustrations and animated intermediate shapes are educational aids, not ancient specimens. Modern typeset characters are not historical calligraphy specimens.
- Historical development, parallel writing traditions, and modern traditional/simplified conventions are different kinds of relationship. The parallel writing-traditions panel is currently hidden in the app; the records here cover the visible early forms and modern conventions.
- Access does not grant additional reuse rights. Historical images retain their individual source attributions and permissions. See the Terms of Service and linked source records.
